Going back to the summer of 1997, Hong Kong was being reunited with China after 150 years. At the same time, we were uniting several talented friends, and Absolute Magazine was born as a small-budget underground street mag. These friends were unknown geniuses, with passion and experience in fashion, photography, dj culture, and dance music. As Hong Kong's club and fashion scene was peaking, the time was right for Absolute to bring to the Hong Kong readers information about the many events and creative outlets that were available.

Absolute took a hands-on approach to giving strength and purpose to the scene, by working closely with artists and promoters, and building friendly relationships with clients and advertisers. Plus, it's up-front style attracted creative contributions from all over the world, giving Absolute a definite edge over other HK mags in keeping up with world-wide fashion and music trends. Soon it became the definitive publication that represented what was happening in Hong Kong.

David and Maggie were responsible themselves for every aspect of the mag, from design to layout, to sales and accounting. This gruelling schedule took it's toll, as sleepless nights approaching deadlines wore them out. After five successful years, Absolute put out it's final issue.

Since the birth of the magazine, Absolute was slowly building a client base of side projects involved in design and image. Clients were impressed with what they saw in the magazine, and wanted to use these talents for other applications such as advertising and branding. By 2002, there was enough demand from all kinds of clients, from young start-ups to multi-national corporations, all of whom respected Absolute's talent and professionalism. Now, we were able to take our creativity to a new level, and devote ourselves to all kinds of new creative opportunities.

Our style is avant-garde and unique, with a streetwise edge - totally what's in for today's successful businesses. Projects range from retail display, to brand imaging and logos, to commercial ads and publications. Absolute Design remains at the forefront of Hong Kong image and design to this day, and is still going strong!
