The work of Patrick Blanc and his vertical garden system are reaching across the globe and his latest creation will soon be available for us Hong Kongers to admire at the soon to be open "Icon Hotel" located in TST.

If you never seen his work check this:

Just imagine with all those vertical spaces we have here, Hong Kong could become a paradise for vertical garden... it will be like living in the land of Pandora, now won't that be beautiful.

Regarded by many as the pioneer of Punk Rock, Iggy Pop was the lead singer of The Stooges from late 60's to early 70's and is infamous for his live performances, which involves being one of the first to stage dive, vomiting and even exposing himself on the stage.

He viewed his live stage performance as a type of art, often explosives, high in energy and eery, like a crazy man

performing on stage, yet to those that admire it sees the beauty within. Iggy though, did checked himself into a mental institution in 1977 to clean himself from his heroin addiction, which he later did prevail.

Here's some video of his electric live performances, witness the transformation from being the wild child to the cool jazzy dog with his latest album "Préliminaires" released this year.

Fri, 20th Nov 2009   2012; and the end of the world? - by david

The recently released disaster movie 2012 is a huge box office hit and so far cumulating some 65 millions in it's first week, topping the US Box Office.

The plot of 2012 is cheesy to the extreme (a real disaster you could say), however the moviegoers that attended are in it for that cheese, myself included. The special effect is what everyone are after and there's nothing quite like watching the end of the human civilization and the fallings of the world from the comfort of your seat with popcorn in one hand and a fizzy pop on the other.

It's quite entertaining and comical how John Cusack have the superpower hero ability in escaping dangerous situations time and again and the special effect that goes with it are breathtaking. All natural disaster are thrown in, earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunami the height of Mont Everest..., this is like the mother of all disaster movies. But what made this movie really stand out from the rest, is that the story is supposedly base on a real prediction by the Maya civilization and the end of their Maya calendar and that end date is on 21/12/2012.

On the internet you can find tons of stuff about doomsday 2012 and how the world is going to end; and to crush this myth, NASA had posted some articles in it's website explaining the facts.

Check those links:

2012: Beginning of the End or Why the World Won't End?

NASA Astrobiology Institute: "Nibiru and Doomsday 2012"

Bad Astronomy: "The Planet X Saga: The Scientific Arguments in a Nutshell"

To be honest there are so many spam and junk on the net, you can easily be fooled and just like the Y2K scare... nothing did happen and I seriously do not think anything will happen on 21/12/2012.

Anyway, to end this piece on a lighter note, check this beautiful song by Gloria Gaynor " I Will Survive"
.
